Siquijor: A Journey to Philippines' Mystic Island of Fire

Welcome to Siquijor
(I took three friends with me! Hi Jhem, Jen and Denice!)

Siquijor, dubbed as "The Healing Paradise" or "Isla del Fuego" has a very special place in my heart. No wonder I've visited this majestic paradise twice in 4 months.

People may think Siquijor as a not-good-place-to-visit due to stories about mambabarangs and mangkukulams but in reality, people here are the warmest people you will ever meet.

Being one of the smallest islands in the Philippines, Siquijor has so much to offer.

"Those who don't jump will never fly"
Salagdoong Beach

Salagdoong beach is one of the famous beaches in Siquijor due its clear water and pristine white sand - and for the brave souls out there, jumping off its buwis-buhay 35ft cliff jumping area is a must try!

Paliton Beach

Aside from Salagdoong beach, you can also visit the amazing Paliton Beach. I didn't see any cottages or bars around the area - just pure sun sand and beach. And you know whats best? Its FREE!

Cambugahay Falls

Cambugahay falls is also one of the must visit places in Siquijor. Dip into the refreshing water and jump ala-Tarzan style in one of the bagings there!

Aside from nature tripping, you can also visit other places like the Old Enchanted Balete Tree, old churhes and convents, the boulevard and the spring spark. One day is enough to visit all these places in Siquijor but to fully enjoy what the island has to offer, you may opt to stay for 3-5 days.

Siquijor is perfect for budget travelers as well! Tour around the island via tricycle is fixed at Php1,000.00 for 3 pax maximum. A multicab can also be rented for bigger groups.

For a very relaxing and homey place to stay, you may contact Xylla's Guesthouse in Lazi, Siquijor. (09068592606) She can also help you arrange your island tour. She is amazing!

How To Get to Siquijor
From Manila, the easiest way to visit to Siquijor is by flying to Dumaguete. From Dumaguete, rent a tricycle going to Dumaguete port and ride a ferry bound to Siquijor. Travel time is around 45 minutes for fast craft and about an hour and a half for RoRo

From Cebu, ride a bus bound to Dumaguete. Ask the locals for the schedule. If you missed it, you may ride a bus bound to Liloan. From Liloan port, ride a fast craft pumpboat going to Dumaguete then transfer to another port for ferries going to Siquijor.
