After a headache-inducing-body-aching-mind-fucking work week, I decided to take some time off so I could let myself glued on my bed for days and not worry about anything.
But my superglue-my-body plan didn’t work - my feet told me to go somewhere. So I did.
From Sta. Rosa, Laguna, I traveled all the way to Pagsanjan, Siniloan and finally, Sta. Maria (my Mother’s home town) where I spent two days and had one of the best solo adventures of my life.
I reached Sta. Maria, Laguna around 8:00PM. I slept a little after midnight and woke up around 5:00AM. People here sleep and wake up early. I didn’t have a proper breakfast because I wasn’t that hungry. I only had coffee and cigarettes - my forever perfect combo!
One of the kids told me there’s a place in Brgy. Cueva that serves one of the best tasting Lomi for only 20 pesos. I had no one to take me there (they were all busy) so I decided to walk.
IT TOOK ME TWO HOURS JUST TO GET TO BRGY. CUEVA!
YES - I WALKED FOR TWO HOURS!!
It was so worth it. Walking for two hours paid off after eating the best tasting Lomi. It was so damn good I had two bowls and didn’t even take a picture of it. Oh, and mind you, bente pesos lang po per order ng Lomi.
I went back home with a satisfied tummy and Kuya Dante offered to be my tourguide.
He took me the windmills. It was my first time to see not just one but 20+ of them in real life! They were so HUUUGE and scary up close! And I didn;t even know that I wasn’t in Sta. Maria anymore - nasa Pilila, Rizal na pala ako!
After vising the windmills, I told Kuya Dante that I want to go to Three Falls. We went back to my Tita’s place and traveled another hour to get to the registration site of Three Falls. I paid P10.00 for the entrance fee. We walked for about half an hour and reached the Three Falls. It was as majestic as it was the last time I was there.
We went home to change clothes and walked around the Town’s Plaza to buy and check out some goodies. There were streetfoods EVERYWHERE and a carnival too! I remembered how my Kuya and I, when we were kids, use to make takas from our parents to go to the carnival and play “Color Game”.
I never had the chance to take any photos as my battery died on my way to the plaza. A lot of children were practising for the grand opening of Marilag Festival - the Town’s annual event where they thank the Saints and Patrons (i think, that’s what I heard) for the good harvest and the safety of the townspeople.
I bought two Hoegaarden beers and headed straight back to my Tita’s house. I was so tired I fell asleep like a log. Lol.
The next day, Kuya Dante took me to Little Baguio. A place I have heard before but have never been to. My mom told me its about an hour (tricycle) to get there. There’s nothing much to see there but the cold weather was truly enjoyable - now that it is fucking hot thanks to haring araw.
My Mom was right - nothing much to see but it was worth visiting! It was freezing and there were Pine trees everywhere! My lungs thanked me for breathing fresh air. There were a few fancy coffee shops and restaurants but I decided to have my coffee in one of the sari sari stores.
I saw a bunch of wild flowers too! They looked so rare to me I can’t even name one!
So I walked for two hours and declared myself as The Kind of the (endless) road. I rewarded myself with the best tasting Lomi. I went into the woods - to my little paradise - and chased water falls. I danced with the windmills. I chilled in Little Baguio and met some wild flowers.
I HAD AN AWESOME ADVENTURE.
And I want you to be part of my next!
